Additional Wells Needed for Groundwater Monitoring Study

By WSCC 6 years ago

The Delta County Health Department is in the middle of a five-year grant from the CDC to assess private drinking water quality from ground water sources (wells and springs). The assessment covers a 6-county region, including Delta, Montrose, and Gunnison counties. The grant covers the cost of extensive water quality analyses from private ground water sources that are used for drinking water. The WSCC encourages members to consider providing water samples for this program from their private wells or springs. This free sampling program not only benefits the homeowner by providing details about their drinking water quality that would otherwise be very expensive to obtain, but will also benefit the counties and WSCC in understanding water quality issues in the region.

For more information, contact Jake at the WSCC (527-5307) or contact the Delta County Health Department directly at (970) 874-2169 or email [email protected]. The WSCC will be happy to provide assistance, if necessary, for collecting the water samples from your well or spring.
