The Western Slope Conservation Center is seeking applications for year three of our Outreach on the Western Slope VISTA.

The Western Slope Conservation Center is a 43-year-old grassroots non-profit organization in Paonia, Colorado, that works to build an active and aware community to protect and enhance the lands, air, water, and wildlife of the Lower Gunnison Watershed. We are seeking an organized, highly self-motivated individual with skills in volunteer coordination, event planning, social media marketing, leadership, and grant-writing. The VISTA position is a year-long service term beginning in April 2021.

The goals of the project are to implement watershed restoration projects and support lead volunteers of the River Park working group and Mike’s Hikes committees. A primary focus of the VISTA program is to engage the community and inspire new conservation leaders.

The Community Outreach VISTA will expand on website improvements to support staff outreach efforts and continue to effectively communicate with our membership, reaching new and diverse audiences. Through close collaboration with the Watershed Program Director, Public Lands Program Director, and Executive Director, and WSCC committees, the VISTA will form and deepen relationships between the community and local municipalities, businesses, and government agencies to create and sustain opportunities for habitat mitigation, stewardship, and recycling.

All applications must be completed through the Americorps portal. Contact [email protected] or [email protected] with issues or questions.
