April 3, 2015 – Colorado’s largest homegrown film festival is traveling to the North Fork Valley. On April 23 and 24, the Paradise Theater and Western Slope Conservation Center are partnering to present Mountainfilm on Tour, a collection of independent films focusing on the natural world. In town for two nights, this event will begin at 7:30pm at the Paradise Theater in Paonia. Advance tickets can be purchased for $15 at Backcountry Bistro, the Conservation Center, or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1414226.

“We are thrilled to partner up with the Conservation Center and Paonia Film Festival to bring Mountainfilm back to the Paradise this spring,” said Amy DeLuca, Director for the Paradise Theater. “The evening program will be adrenaline filled and awe inspiring as expected.” This year’s Film Festival is part of the Conservation Center’s Earth Week Celebration.

This program is a fundraiser for the Paradise Theater and Conservation Center, two community organizations with active grassroots projects in the North Fork Valley. The Paradise Theater recently completed a capital campaign to convert the historic theater to digital projection. The Conservation Center maintains a number of projects in the region, including river restoration, water quality monitoring, and the Paonia River Park.

Mountain Film Festival also features special programming for North Fork Valley youth. “When I put the call out to local principals we got an overwhelmingly positive response,” DeLuca said. The Kidz Kino program for K-4 children features a fun and engaging program with light educational content. The Movies that Matter program is focused on educating, entertaining, and inspiring students in middle and high school.

Mountainfilm on Tour is a selection of the most outstanding short films from the long-running Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, and is dedicated to educating, inspiring and motivating audiences about issues that matter. From extreme athletes to cutting-edge scientists, explorers, authors and the best of independent documentary filmmakers, Mountainfilm consistently attracts a uniquely diverse and inspiring cadre of thinkers and doers.

Additional information about this April 23 &24 event can be found on the Paradise Theater website.
