Our John Moore Conservation Hero for 2024 was the wonderful Linda Laks, a leader of our River Watch program and incredible supporter of WSCC.
Linda first moved to Paonia from New Jersey six years ago in 2019 and began looking for like-minded individuals with a love for the outdoors and community.
She began volunteering and attending WSCC events such as Mike’s Hikes and River Watch, and quickly became a feature of our organization. Linda’s work organizing and coordinating volunteers and leading by example to protect our waters is a testament to her passion for conservation and community. Linda also helps out at WSCC events such as Conservation Days, teaching others the value of Conservation education and community science.
If you’d like to meet Linda “the Gazelle” Laks, join us sometime for a River Watch water quality sampling or on a Mike’s Hike out on our public lands, and you’re likely to see her there!
