Over 300 fourth grade students across Delta County made their way to the Paonia River Park for the 6th Annual Conservation Days on April 27 and 28, 2017! Students participated in a wide range of conservation activities, from bird watching and fish finding to harnessing the power of solar energy to creating art inspired by the natural world. Volunteers from organizations across the Western Slope taught students important lessons in conservation. Participating organizations included: BLM, USFS, CPW, Black Canyon Audubon Society, Ridgway State Park, Delta Conservation District, North Fork Historical Society, WSCC, Solar Energy International, West Elk Mountain Rescue, and Elsewhere Studios.
The event was sponsored by the Kampe Foundation, DMEA, Alpine Bank, First Colorado National Bank, Paonia Realty, Double J Disposal, and Redwood Arms Motel.
We also want to thank the dedicated volunteers who cleaned up the River Park in preparation for the students on April 20!
