December 7, 2011 – BLM announces 30,000 acres of land are nominated for the August 2012 Oil and Gas Lease Sale.

December 19, January 4 and 5 – The Conservation Center co-hosts community meetings in Hotchkiss, Crawford and Paonia to discuss the lease sale. Over 1,000 people attended the meetings.

January 3, 2012 – BLM extends the public scoping comment period by 30 days.

March 3, 2012 – Conservation Center helps sponsor the Delta County Oil & Gas Public Information meeting. The meeting included presentations from the BLM, USFS, Colorado State Geologic Survey, Industry, Delta County, and COGCC on the existing rules and regulations surrounding natural gas.

March 8, 2012 – The Conservation Center asks the BLM Statewide RAC members to help us defer the lease sale

March 7, 2012 – the BLM issues a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

March 22, 2012 – The Conservation Center co-hosts a public information about the draft EA

April 3, 2012 – BLM extends the public comment period on the EA by two weeks.

April 27, 2012 – the Conservation Center and our members ask the BLM SW RAC to defer the lease sale

May 2, 2012 – the BLM defers the lease sale for the first time, citing the need to “conduct additional analysis of the proposed lease parcels based on community input”

July 28, 2012 – The Conservation Center goes to Washington, DC to ask the BLM and our representatives to defer the lease sale.

November 16, 2012 – the BLM announces that 20,555 acres in the North Fork will be included in the February, 2013 lease sale

February 6, 2013 – the BLM defers the North Fork parcels from the lease sale for the second time

February 13, 2013 – The Conservation Center petitions the BLM SW RAC to defer the lease sale
