What’s New at the Paonia River Park?

New at the Paonia River Park!

If you’ve been to the Paonia River Park recently, you might have noticed a few new additions! Earlier this year, we sent out a Paonia River Park Survey asking the community what they love about the park and what could be improved. One theme emerged that was also on our minds: how can we better accommodate our four-legged friends (and their humans) and maintain a clean, safe environment? Thanks to generous donations from CAWS – Delta County Citizens for Animal Welfare and Shelter and Houseweart Veterinary Clinic, and the incredible metalworks of Ira Houseweart, we have two brand new “doggie depot” stations complete with everything you need for your pets! With leashes, doggie bags, and a trash receptacle, we hope to make the park an enjoyable experience for humans and pets alike.

Located at the northeast end of the park.
Just past the Minnesota Creek Bridge
Dog depot artist Ira Houseweart and his pup Cora
A little snow couldn't stop Ira and Jake from installing the dog depots!
Getting it just right.

HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR DOG DEPOT SPONSORS!

AND TO THE INCREDIBLE BLACKSMITH, IRA HOUSEWEART

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

The Paonia River Park now features an arch visible from Grand Ave! Created to match the existing arch, this structure will increase the River Park’s visibility as you enter/leave town.
