UPDATE: WSCC’s 40th Birthday & Reunion a huge success!
Over 150 people celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the Western Slope Conservation Center at Heritage Hall on this past Saturday, September 30th! Despite waves of wintry weather, generations of conservation stewards came together in honor of all the accomplishments of our community over the last 40 years.
From founders to future generations, morale was high as we shared stories, ate delicious food and cake, and danced the night away together.
Thank you to all of the people who helped make the celebration happen, including former board members Andrea Robinsong and Patti Kaech, who both helped sponsor the event, as well as Anthony Reichenbach (caterer), Ellen Hutto (cake maker), Big B’s, Revolution Brewing, Zephyros Farm and Garden, Conservation Lands Foundation, and the party planning team: Susie Johnson, Laurie Elendu, Lisa Delaney, Allison Elliot, Betsy Johnson, and Brittney Escobar.

Lordy, lordy, WSCC is 40! And you have to admit, we are lookin’ pretty good for our age. Come celebrate our 40th birthday on September 30.
Location change: Heritage Hall at the Delta County Fairgrounds in Hotchkiss.
Food, beverages, garden potluck, live music and dancing, CAKE, and nostalgia will be provided! Festivities start at 3pm.

Party Schedule
3-4:30pm
Games – Fun games and activities for all ages
Photos & Storytelling – Look through photo albums that highlight photos throughout the years. We’ll also have a recording station for you to share your story!
4:30pm
Aerial “40” Photo – Ben Lehman will help capture an aerial image of everyone gathered in celebration of WSCC’s 40th Birthday
“Keeping the Light” – We’ll take a moment to host a candle ceremony to honor the heart and spirit that we need as a community to continue protecting our home we love.
Dinner: 5-6pm – Catered by Anthony Reichenbach – $10 suggested donation
Potluck – Food items welcome for a garden-free-style potluck!
Drinks – Local and regional brews on tap for $5 suggested donation
Program: 5:30-6pm – “Passing the Torch” – WSCC board and staff will give a short program that includes a few key stories from our past 40 years, a few big thanks to past and present WSCC family members, and ways we can make the next 40 years as vibrant as the last!
6pm – 40th Birthday CAKE – Ellen Hutto will be preparing a beautiful and delicious cake in honor of 40 years of conservation on the Western Slope!
6-9pm
Music – Live music – bands Jericho and RARE
Photos & Storytelling – Look through photo albums that highlight photos throughout the years. We’ll also have a recording station for you to share your story!

DIRECTIONS: Drive into Hotchkiss, on the east end of Bridge St., turn south through the stone gate into the fairgrounds. Heritage Hall is signed, on the left. Ample parking available.
