Paonia River Park
For nearly 25 years, WSCC has brought the community together for Riverfest, an annual celebration featuring a lively fair and a scenic river float. While locations have varied over the years, the beautiful Paonia River Park has become the heart of the celebration.
This year, the Western Slope Conservation Center has teamed up with The Learning Council to honor the value of our local river and the importance of access to recreation on public lands. The free community fair offers something for everyone, with live music throughout the day, delicious food vendors, activities for the kiddos, and a silent auction featuring great outdoor gear! Keep the celebration going the following day with a special float trip and experience the river from a whole new perspective.

Join us Sunday, May 31st at 9:00 AM sharp, for a half-day guided river rafting trip fondly called the Float! (No Tickets Are Required for the May 30th Festival)
Proceeds support WSCC's mission to build an informed and engaged community to protect and enhance the lands, air, water, and wildlife of the Western Slope! Thank you to Western Slope SUP and our volunteer guides!
Meeting Location and Launch: Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area; Gunnison Two Forks Boat Ramp (next to Pleasure Park). Parking is limited, so we encourage car pooling!
Take Out: Orchard Boat Ramp, estimated time of arrival is 11-12pm
Shuttle: A bus will bring you back to the Gunnison Forks parking area.
All registered participants must be 10 years of age or older and accompanied by a parent or guardian if under 18.
Please bring your own sun protection, layers, and water.
For lunch: If you would like to bring a lunch to enjoy at Pleasure Park after the float, you're free to bring one in your car and picnic on your own, but we are not hosting a formal picnic this year.
We'll provide
- Cold drinks and snacks at the takeout. We will meet you with coolers loaded with seltzers and light snacks, which you can grab and enjoy on the bus.
- We will provide PFDs, but if you have a class III or V with 2 adjustable side straps and adjustable shoulder straps, please feel free to bring your own!
